Persistent Pain (Chronic Pain)
1 in 4 people suffer from persistent or ongoing pain which can affect their life as well as their families, in devastating ways.
Research shows that most tissue in the human body heals within 3-6 months. Beyond that, many clients feel they have been put in the 'too hard basket' by health professionals after multiple treatments have tried and failed and they are still in pain.
Beyond 3-6 months, Persistent Pain is likely due to changes in the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) as well as the peripheral tissues.
In some people the nervous system remains extra sensitised leading to the experience of distressing, increasing and often spreading pain that limits daily function and affects enjoyment and quality of life.
Research shows that pain is ALWAYS real, it is ALWAYS valid and it is a unique and individual experience that is felt when danger messages from the tissues trigger a protective pain, inflammation or fatigue response.
Advanced Pain Solutions was created to put current pain research into practice in the community setting to reduce Persistent Pain.
Current research studies through the International Association For The Study Of Pain, now show that there are effective multifactorial and multidisciplinary treatments for reducing pain that occurs from the brain and spinal cord (central sensitisation).
Treatment for Persistent Pain should look radically different to acute or short term pain as it has different mechanisms driving it.
In addition to the musculoskeletal drivers of pain, your assessment and treatment also needs to
address:
Not addressing these factors can be one of the incredibly frustrating reasons pain has remained despite your and others best efforts to eliminate it.
The first step is to book an Advanced Assessment with Principal Pain and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist Julie Peacock to see how she can help you. Julie has applied international pain treatment research to overcome her own work place and motor accident pain, following 2 spinal fusions and nerve damage with autoimmune and inflammatory challenges. All this while parenting 2 young boys and running a busy health business - so she really does understand the challenges of overcoming complex pain in the real world!
Please call the clinic on 8296 7594 to book or to discuss your individual needs with Julie to determine what treatment approach or program may suit you. (Telehealth appointments also available).
